A study commissioned by Boots has found that money worries are the biggest cause of loss of sleep; beating relationship problems and weight concerns.
Adults lose on average 68 minutes sleep a night fretting about money as wages and jobs come under pressure. Being kept awake at night worrying can be emotionally draining and could have an impact on your health.
Its way too easy advising you not to worry but there are definitely steps you can take to try and avoid sleepless nights and tackle your concerns:-
- Try to read something engaging before bed which is absolutely not work related
- Its so tempting to have a couple of glasses of wine when you get home to relax but hours latter the sugar release will step your heart rate and this with dehydration is likely to wake you up with your heart pounding and sleep nowhere in sight.
- Get yourself a plastic bottle and fill it up with water and get in the habit of drinking water all through the day. You absolutely will feel better.
- Combine the water with exercise and you will find it so much easier to deal with stressful issues
- It is really good to talk – engage with someone who cares and try to discuss and rationalise your fears about wage cuts/job loss.
